Conclusion I have been exceptionally happy with the overall performance and quality of the Super Talent T800UX2GC4 kit. These matched DIMMS worked exactly how they were supposed to, and I have no complaints with how they have treated me throughout the past year.
Currently these DIMMS can be found for as low as $150 US, and considering my very positive experience with them, they are a steal at this price. The memory market is quite depressed at the moment, so DIMMS are at historically low prices for these densities and speeds. Inevitably prices will increase, and many feel that in Q3 we will see prices start climbing again towards levels we saw in Fall of 2006. So if a user is considering getting a pair of good, fast 2 GB kits, now would be an excellent time to do so. Super Talent has gained a very nice following, and they have consistently provided outstanding products at very low prices. Their products may not be flashy or gimmicky, but they certainly are solid and perform exactly how they are supposed to. No LEDs or extreme heatspreaders will be found on Super Talent products (at this time), but users will get a lot of fast memory at a very low price. Not only that, but the user will get a lifetime warranty on their DIMMS directly from Super Talent as well. All of these things lead up to what is almost certainly some of the best memory that money can buy. While there are DIMMS that will overclock more, feature flashy heatsinks or LEDs, or have extreme graphics on the heatspreader, Super Talent offers consumers a very vanilla looking product with outstanding performance for its price class. These DIMMS are certified for use with CrossFire setups, courtesy of ATI/AMD. One thing that I cannot stress more is that I use these DIMMS for the majority of my testing of other products. This is because they work exactly as advertised, have good overclocking headroom, and are some of the most compatible DIMMS I have used in the DDR-2 era.
Penstarsys.com Outstanding Value Award
Pros Fast and cheap Overclocks well Fast stock timings Handles higher voltages without issue Sharp looking blue heatspreaders Minimal packaging that is easy to open Lifetime warranty Guaranteed to work at advertised timings and voltages Did I mention cheap?
Cons Different revisions may affect overall clocking ability Super Talent is still not a widely known name May not be flashy enough for some users
