Super Talent Vidego 24T

The New Touchy-Feely

by Josh Walrath

Conclusion

The second generation of MP3/4 players from Super Talent is much improved from the first, and I found the experience quite pleasant.  The price of this particular model hovers around $69, and perhaps a bit lower depending on where it is purchased.  For that price I found the quality, functionality, and storage space to be more than adequate.

Flash photography is not exactly conducive to photographing the LCD on this part, but you get the idea.  It is much brighter in person, and very easy to read.

Video playback was decent, but far from spectacular.  It also needs to be encoded by the provided software; otherwise most other AVI files will not work.  It also does not support other video formats like WMV or MOV, which is a bit of a downside compared to other competing (and more expensive) products.

Sound quality was fair, but not unexpectedly so.  It is a mobile player with limited battery life, and so tradeoffs are made between power consumption and audio quality.  The integrated 1 GB is a bit small anymore when considering most music collections, but the ability to add another couple of GB via Micro-SD card is a big plus.

And this is what it looks like when the unit is playing.  A little graphic equalizer bars for your love.

Super Talent is now making good quality MP3/4 players for decent prices.  I had no quality issues while I have been using it for the past few months, and construction seems to be a big step up from previous models.  One of the big complaints about the previous members was the flimsy headphone connection.  Throughout all of my use, this connection has not moved and has survived me swapping out headphones on a regular basis, as well as carrying the product around with me.  I am usually quite careful though, and people with a penchant for abusing their hardware may not experience the same sturdiness I have.
